I approach therapy as a conversation where our goal is to learn more about you, your challenges, and your strengths. Self-awareness and self-acceptance are an important focus for therapy. I also center mentalization- the ability to understand the mind of oneself and others. This ability, often called empathy, helps us have healthy relationships with others and ourselves.
My areas of focus are relationships to self and others, attachment/complex trauma, personality disorders, and mood disorders. As a queer individual, I enjoy working with the LGBTQ+ community and am particularly interested in how our developmental experiences affect our self-concept and relationships as adults.
I received my MSW from Washington University in St. Louis and completed the Advanced Psychodynamic Psychotherapy program at the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute. I work from an integrative perspective using Mentalization-Based Treatment, ACT, Mindfulness, and DBT-informed skills.
